Innovative Education for Sustainable Finance

In Germany, there is a lack of financial education with a focus on sustainability in vocational training, particularly in the technical and industrial sectors. This project aims to develop modular teaching and learning arrangements within a competency-oriented didactic framework for sustainable financial education in vocational education. These arrangements will be tested and evaluated in practice.

In addition, online training programs for teachers (Teacher Training Tools) are being developed to effectively implement these arrangements in their teaching practice.

As a result, the project will create two innovative, scientifically based practical tools for educators and learners, while also generating new research insights in the field of sustainable financial education.

Research Focus

Vocational students in technical and industrial occupations require classroom-embedded support in developing sustainable financial literacy in order to actively contribute to shaping their training company and future professional roles, as well as to manage their private lives in a financially sustainable way.
Therefore, target group-specific teaching and learning arrangements (TLA) are being developed, tested, and evaluated. These arrangements practically combine financial education with education for sustainable development.

In addition, an online-based Teacher Training Tool (TTT) is being developed to provide time- and location-independent support for teachers and to offer guidance for effectively implementing the TLA in the classroom.
